The Excitement in Pet Dogs
Dogs pant when they are agitated, stressed, or scared. Visiting a veterinarian, driving a car, and new experiences can pan your pet dog. Fear can also bring this reaction to dogs. New situations can cause anxiety and gasping until the dog calms down again. Reassure your dog with gentle words. Help lower the level of excitement, fear, or anxiety they may feel.

Pain and Illness within your Pet Dog
If the dog has an illness, injury, or other health problem, it may begin to panting excessively. Dogs can gasp due to heart problems, infections, fever, Cushing’s syndrome (adrenal problems), and respiratory problems. If you notice that your dog is overly panting, please contact your veterinarian. Depending on the cause of the problem, the veterinarian may prescribe medication to help the pet dog heal or rest more comfortably. The pain can also pan the dog. Invisible injuries can cause pain in dogs. Dogs try to manage their pain by panting.

Older pet dogs
Older dogs naturally pant more than their younger counterparts.
