Play with your pet cat
Don’t expect your pet cat to be a fan of playing alone. Solo play toys are secondary entertainment. In general, they enjoy toys that you control much more.
Copy the hunting process
The reason that many pet cats are extremely enthusiastic about the game is that they are genetically predisposed to jump on objects that look like prey. Thus, you should try to move the toy like a small prey, while moving it closer and further while changing its speed, without it being a neurotic movement.
Let your pet cat catch the toy
From time to time, since the game mimics hunting, let your cat revel in victory. Let your feline jump on their toy, hold it under their paws. Let them taste it. Prey they can never catch would frustrate them.
Avoid routine
Try different toys. Remove some for several weeks of ‘resting’ and then exchange them with those that are in use. This prevents boredom and maintains novelty and excitement for your pet cat.
Add something new to the playground
By adding a box – for example – to the play area, you provide much-needed variation. If you move the toy around the box, your pet cat will follow. If you move the toy on top of it, your cat will jump up to chase it. Taking advantage of your cat’s curiosity is an almost infinite resource.

Identify the best times to play
Not all moments are equally ideal to play. In nature, the rhythm of activities of a pet cat follows a specific pattern, which includes napping, hunting, feeding, and cleaning, and then again napping, then hunting. Cats are more alert after naps and before meals.
Use catnip for your pet cat
You may have tried catnip toys, but keep in mind that not all cats react to it. One in three cats couldn’t care less. Many cat toys on the market are scented with catnip, but you can also get a rubbing pack for your feline’s normal toys.
